REV. DAVID COX
Senior Pastor
​
David is originally from Greenville, South Carolina.  He was raised in church ministry; his dad has served as a music minister his entire life.  While David was pursuing his undergraduate degree at Clemson University, he felt the call to ministry and transferred to North Greenville University where he received his degree in Business and Christian Ministry.  While he was there he was active in the Baptist Collegiate Ministry music team and that is how he met his wife, Katie.  After graduating from North Greenville, David attended seminary at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina.  After three years of seminary, David and Katie served two years in India with the International Mission Board.  Before moving to Shady Grove in July 2021, David served as a student pastor in North Carolina.  David and Katie have two children Luke and Emily who are full of life and the reason they no longer sleep!


Hobbies - playing drums and guitar, reading books, gardening, traveling, watching football. 


Life Verse - "But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope.  The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to end; they are new every morning.  Great Is Thy Faithfulness." Lamentations 3:21-23 (ESV)

EDNA NIMMONS
​Ministry Assistant

Edna and her family came to Shady Grove in October 1981 and she has served as the Ministry Assistant since July 2004.

​Hobbies - Reading, shopping days with her daughter, and spending time with family and friends

STEVEN YATES
Interim Youth Pastor

Steven is from Belton, SC. He was raised at Washington Baptist Church in Pelzer, SC. In 2017, Steven was called into the Ministry. He began serving and helping in the Youth at Washington Baptist and later felt the call to move to Shady Grove in September 2021. The Lord had a plan for this move and the doors opened for the Youth Ministry at Shady Grove in March of 2022. Steven is currently also a School Teacher in Greenville County SC. He graduated from University of South Carolina Upstate in December of 2020. In March 2021, Steven married the love of his life, Regan and they are currently expecting a little boy in October.

Hobbies - Hunting, fishing, kayaking, teaching, reading, studying military history, flytying, wood-burning art, and spending

Life Verse -  Matthew 6:34- Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

CONNIE GOFORTH
Financial Secretary

Connie was born, reared, and continues to live in Anderson, SC. She and her husband, Ken, will be married 50 years September 2022. God has blessed her with three children, all married with families of their own. She has seven grandchildren who have blessed her beyond all measure. Connie gave her heart and life to Christ in Vacation Bible School at the age of 11. She is a retired ICU RN.


Hobbies—Reading, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Green Bay Packers, and helping Ken in the Bee Yard, currently with four hives.


Life’s Verse—Isaiah 40:31, “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
